Year 7 and 8 trip to the Rhineland

In July 2008 30 Year 7 and 8 pupils and their teachers visited the Rhineland in Germany. We travelled by coach and ferry and stayed in Osterspai in the hotel Lindenhof.

We went on a lot of trips. We went on a boat trip down the River Rhein and saw lovely castles along the way. We had a guided tour of the Marksburg castle. We went shopping and swimming in Cochem. Cochem had a lovely open air pool. We went to Phantasialand - Germany's most popular theme park. All the rides were free and we did not have to queue long at all. We also went to Rüdesheim, a popular Rhineland town. We took a chair lift up to the top of the mountain, where the view was fantastic.

We tried German food - Bockwurst, Bratwurst, Kuchen and Eis. It was lovely. We spoke German in the shops and cafes and in the hotel. We all thought Germany was lovely and really want to go again.
