Colton Hills Sixth Form students celebrate a social distanced A Level results day

Colton Hills Community School students are celebrating A Level success, in this most unusual year. Sixth Form Leader, Sam Ryan said,

“This year has been a challenge for everyone, and whilst the pandemic has affected all aspects of school life, I am so proud of the grades that our students have been awarded. Their commitment and hard work has been an inspiration, and we will be supporting them in whatever they do next."

Amongst those celebrating today were Kareena Bali who achieved 1 A* and 2 A’s and is now looking forward to studying Psychology at University of Warwick, and Gurpreet Pawar who will be going to University of Birmingham to study Computer Science, having secured 3 A grades.

Headteacher, Alberto Otero said, “Our students have worked so hard over the last 2 years. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic they have remained committed to their education. I would like to pass on my personal thanks to them, their parents and care givers who have supported them so much, as well as our amazing staff for everything they have done. I am immensely proud of our school, and the people who make it such a wonderful place to learn.”

Amongst those picking up their grades was Poppy Shindu, who will be continuing her education in Canada where she will be studying Art and Design with the hopes of one day working for Marvel comics.

Overall, the school has seen an improvement in the average grade for the third year in a row with 60% of A Level students awarded at least 1 A* to B grade.
