Catch Up Premium
Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Premium
Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch up funding provides an additional £500 for every pupil who has not achieved a Level 4 in reading and/or maths at Key Stage 2. The funding aims to provide support to accelerate the learning of the identified pupils, enabling them to narrow the gap between their performance and that of their peers.
How the allocation was spent in 2017/18
For the academic year 2017/18, the school spent its allocation on:
Smaller teaching groups to boost support and accelerate learning, which helped to build a stronger skill base, giving pupils a toolkit of skills, which allows them to access the mainstream curriculum more effectively.
Small group work and intervention led by Teaching Assistants and teaching staff, which focused on developing reading, spelling and numeracy.
Accelerated reader is used to support pupils reading.
Lexia system allows access to specific software designed to develop spelling skills and writing support
Additional Maths/English support in small groups, which helps reading, writing, spelling and self-esteem.
We have an extensive Library and additional books were purchased for the programme
Allocations for the financial year 2017 to 2019
In 2017 to 2018 schools will receive the same overall amount of year 7 catch-up premium funding they received in 2015 to 2016, adjusted to reflect the percentage change in the size of their year 7 cohort, based on the October 2016 census. In 2018/19 the funding will be based as previous years.
How we intend to spend the allocation 2018/19
Plans are in place to continue with the successful strategies outlined above and future statements will outline the successful outcomes pupils have achieved with these interventions.
