EPQ
EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) is a sixth form qualification
that students can undertake alongside their A Levels. It involves
students choosing a topic, carrying out research, creating a project
based on it, which can take various forms such as an essay, a
report, a performance, a presentation or an artefact.
There are several types of EPQ - students can put on an event like
a fundraiser, make something like a work of art, or put on a
performance. Other options include producing a piece of
multimedia or creative writing. Students must show its academically useful, relates to their course of study or future career.
Benefits of an EPQ
-
Develop skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, presentation and time management.
-
Demonstrate interest in a specific area which can be useful for university applications and future careers.
-
It can carry UCAS points and also be valued at half an A-Level qualification in the UCAS tariff.
