Group Gathering & Fines

As anticipated, there are still people within the city who continue to breach the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions by hosting & attending parties; we are aware that this includes parents taking their children/young people to such gatherings & the risk implication this poses to school bubbles & staff.

In an attempt to combat this further, a new ‘Large Gathering Offence’ has now been passed - this is committed by any person attending a gathering in the contravention of Tier 4 gathering restrictions where it is more than 15 people & takes place in a private dwelling as well as other places.

As of the 1st February, officers have the legal ability to issue fines of up to £800 per person for those attending gatherings of 15 or more people.
